John - Beekeeping.

FAVORITE BOOK OR MAGAZINE:

Ingrid - Downeast, National Geographic Magazine.

John - Howl and Other Poems by Allen Ginsberg.

SOMETHING WE LOVE ABOUT OUR NEW KITCHEN:

Ingrid - Openness, ability to converse/interact with family/friends in living room and dining room while "finishing up" in kitchen; ability to look outside onto the deck, back yard and woods while standing at the kitchen sink.

John - Visually stunning.

SUMMARIZE YOUR DESIGNER:

Ingrid - Easy to work with and flexible. She was creative in designing solutions to meet our needs; for instance she helped in the design of the unique assymetrical design of our lower counter of our island. Her knowledge, attention to detail, communication with the builder, and follow-through was critical in avoiding any design issues.

John - Knowledgeable, friendly, a great coach, sees the big picture.

HOW HAS YOUR NEW KITCHEN CHANGED YOUR LIFE:

Ingrid - The kitchen is now integrated into the house. It provides for multiple uses simultaneously in a pleasing setting; for instance, while we prepare meals we can socialize with other family members while they relax in front of the fireplace or do their homework at the counter. Also, easy access to applicances and utensils has been a huge benefit and a great joy. Increased space and organization have allowed our appliances and utensils used for cooking and baking to be stored in the kitchen which has eliminated the need to retrieve them from different locations throughout the house when needed.

John - Enjoys increased work area, no traffic jams, we don't collide anymore.

SPECIAL DESIGN ELEMENT: Designing a space that works for both a baker and a cook who have different needs in the kitchen.

CABINETRY: UltraCraft, high-gloss wine-colored, plus stainless steel with frosted panels, and bird's eye maple look-alike for the two-level island

COUNTERTOP SELECTION: Engineered Stone, in warm tans on periphery and cool blue gray on island
