The O'Driscoll family came back to Amy when they needed a new kitchen area designed. A fresh start with a timeless appeal called for a completely new color palette and layout.

The space includes a dining room, and nearby there is an entertainment area with bar space. The family of five enjoys this larger space that gives them plenty of room for family time and entertaining friends.

Kitchen Hearth

The hearth is a focal point in the large family focused kitchen. This large cooking area provides everything the resident chef needs. The large drawers under the cooktop store pots and pans. A pot-filler faucet makes it easy to fill large cook pots on the professional quality gas cooktop.

Specialty storage on either side of the cooktop put spices and other cooking necessities right at hand, with lots of drawers to hold cooking utensils.

Island with Prep Sink

This view gives you a better look at the prep sink and the custom-made Cherry countertop that was salvaged from their previous kitchen and sized for the new island. An open-front cabinet with sliding baskets to hold vegetables provides easy access for them to be prepared.

Large refrigerator, microwave, double wall ovens and coffee maker are all built-in. With plenty of counter space there is no problem making room for a toaster oven.

Large Kitchen Island

Here on the left-hand side of the photo, you get a glimpse of the larger island that is used for casual dining.

In addition to providing more storage space, this large island is also a great location to place a buffet spread for entertaining.

Easy Access

Accessiblity was a consideration for this family as they have a lot of people using the space at the same time, including relatives of all ages and abilities.

The wide walking areas provide an easy flow from the adjoining family room through the kitchen to the dining area.

Farmer's Sink

The large porcelain farmer's sink fits in perfectly with the timeless design of the kitchen. Of course a streamlined dishwasher is built-in next to it.

Expansive windows in the sink area provide lots of natural light and a beautiful view of the backyard, making dishwashing and other chores more enjoyable.

The large island in the foreground holds a tray of glasses, ready for entertaining guests.

Dining Room

The beautiful built-in hutch with buffet counter in the dining room was made with Schrock Cabinetry that coordinates with the kitchen. The hutch cabinets have a Distressed Whiskey Black finish. The buffet countertop is Antique Brown Granite with a Leathered Finish.

Custom designed for the homeowner, it includes lit display cabinets along with drawers of various sizes. The crown moulding finishes this furniture quality built-in.

Built-in Desk

A desk area is tucked into a wall, flanked by storage cabinets at the end of the kitchen next to the casual dining area.

With cubbies and apothecary style drawers there is plenty of storage to keep the desktop clutter-free.

You also get a better look here at the seating area of the large island, which can accommodate at least six chairs, three on each side. The table legs make it look more like furniture from this vantage point.
