Several features make this kitchen stand out, from the oversized island with stylish waterfall cascade of the quartz countertop to the marble backsplash in classic herringbone pattern. Clean lines in the transitional cabinetry style provide a timeless appeal and double helix mullions in the glass doors add a touch of class to the glassware display in the beverage center.
The cabinetry provides plenty of storage to keep the countertops clear. The white and gray palette provides a clean backdrop to the adjacent family room and family dining area.
The custom home builder was purchasing building materials from National Lumber when the homeowners asked for custom changes to suit their style. Amy Mood met with the homeowners and determined they prefer a transitional style. She then designed all areas using cabinetry to meet their family's practical needs, making their custom home suit them perfectly.
The kitchen in this open floor plan anchors the space with both style and practicality. With two small children, the family wanted a design that will accommodate their family for years to come. The large island with waterfall quartz countertop is eminently practical with plenty of work space for meal preparations, seating for casual family meals or projects, plus extra storage tucked into the cabinetry behind the seating. When entertaining, the island becomes the perfect buffet area.
With a dedicated beverage center next to the island, refreshments are handy for everyday needs or entertaining.
The work triangle of refrigerator, sink and stove is efficient to save steps and make tasks easier. Whether putting away groceries, or taking out meal ingredients, everything just makes sense. Adjacent to the stove is an under counter microwave plus toaster oven on the counter, ready for every type of meal or snack preparations.

Adjacent to the kitchen, the hallway leading to the garage has a streamlined mudroom. With places to hang up coats, store shoes, and a bench to sit on when preparing to go out or come in, this area also has a huge amount of storage for whatever an active family needs to keep handy but out of sight.
Wainscoting and Trim from National Lumber
Next to the kitchen, seen from the front hallway, the large dining room is made more formal with wainscoting and millwork trim details. The white wainscoting continues the transitional style and gray painted walls continue the whole house color palette, with warm wood tones of the hardwood floors seen throughout the first floor.
Stair Parts from National Lumber
The front hallway continues the white and gray color palette, with the warm wood tones of the hardwood flooring continued with the newel post, railing and stair treads.
To the left, you get a glimpse of the family room that has the kitchen to the left. You can see how the hardwood floors seamlessly flow through the first floor.
