Marble is a beautiful natural material with a wide range of colors to choose from, some offering unusual patterns and veining. You can see from the image above that marble is quite a luxurious countertop material for a bathroom vanity.
However, since marble tends to be significantly more porous than granite, it is more likely to stain than a granite countertop. Sealers will help protect it from staining, but acidic substances such as orange juice or tomato sauce can leave permanent "etches" or dull marks.
Because of these drawbacks, marble is often better used as a bathroom vanity counter, or decorative backsplash element in a kitchen rather than as a countertop.

In addition to stones such as granite and marble, and composites such as concrete, there are green options for you to consider, such as recycled glass and reclaimed wood.
